UPDATES

  • Errata stickers, replacement cards, and 2nd printing Pirate Borg books are in the warehouse. You can read more about the errata here.
  • Our online store will launch to the public on Talk Like a Pirate Day 9/19/23, but you all have early access to it RIGHT NOW via the password “pirate”. There you can add the errata sticker and/or the card to your cart for free. Our fulfillment partner, Flying Cloud, has graciously offered to help us out with this whole thing. If you add just the sticker and/or the card to your cart, shipping is only $1.50 to USA addresses, and is cheap as we could get it for international addresses.
  • IF YOU WANT A 2ND PRINTING BOOK: There are 300 copies of the 2nd printing of the book in our warehouse. Everyone that requested a replacement copy of the printed book earlier this year should have received an email and a discount code to redeem the replacement book for free (plus shipping). The rest are available for purchase, first come first serve. If for some reason we sell out, you can preorder it from Free League or get it in retail on TLAP Day. Reminder: using the coupon is optional. Many of you mentioned wanting to purchase a 2nd printing book to help us out with the reprint costs. This is the way to do so, and you can’t even know how much we appreciate your support!
  • We still have LOTS of copies of the 1st printing in the warehouse. LOTS. If you buy a new 1st printing book or the reference cards they will automatically ship with the sticker and/or replacement card from here on, so no need to add them to your cart.
  • Printed versions of Buried in the Bahamas, The Sinking of C’thagn, The Battle of Dead Man’s Cove, and Limithron’s Guide to Naval Combat for 5e are all in the warehouse. Adding them to your order will save you on shipping and help us recover from the errata costs. Orders over $100 will get free domestic (USA) shipping by using the coupon code “FREESHIP”.
  • For now, everything is shipping from our US warehouse. That means you might need to pay import fees on it if you aren’t in the USA. I’m sorry, but that’s all we can manage at the moment. We hope to turn on fulfillment from the EU and UK again later this year.
  • We’ve added clothing to the store! These items are print-on-demand and will ship 100% separately from the books and errata stuff. But they do still help us out. And I think they look pretty cool… I ordered a hoodie and two shirts for myself!
  • IF YOU REQUESTED A FULL REFUND: You should have received an email. You may keep your Kickstarter rewards. We ask that you give them to someone that might want to play Pirate Borg. We will not be refunding shipping or Kickstarter payment fees.

TALK LIKE A PIRATE DAY

  • September 19th is International Talk Like a Pirate Day, and the official release date for PIRATE BORG!!!
  • We are teaming up with retailers around the world to have launch day events. Participating retailers will have FREE Pirate Borg swag and zines to hand out. Some will also be running in store events. If your store (or a store you know) would like to participate, go here.
  • It is also the release date for 3 newly printed Pirate Borg adventures: Buried in the Bahamas, The Sinking of C’Thagn, and The Battle of Dead Man’s Cove. 5e players can also pick up a printed copy of Limithron’s Guide to Naval Combat.
  • We are launching the HARBOURMASTER program on the same day. This is an event calendar and rewards program where GMs can earn free swag for running publicly open games (online or at a game store), or for streaming pirate borg events on platforms like YouTube and Twitch.

Nearing the end, New Stuff, 2nd Printing PDFs, and more!
over 1 year ago – Thu, Mar 23, 2023 at 03:13:58 PM

Kickstarter Nearly Complete

To our knowledge, other than a few issues with ~14 orders in the EU and few customs issues, all of the Kickstarter rewards have either shipped or been delivered! There are still 35 people that have not filled out their surveys, but if you HAVE filled out yours and don’t have your rewards yet, please email [email protected] from your Kickstarter or BackerKit email address and we’ll get you sorted.

Sinking of C’thagn Now Shipping

The Sinking of C'thagn

Our first official adventure for PIRATE BORG, The Sinking of C’thagn, is shipping now from our US warehouse. You can purchase it through our preorder store. Preorders come with a PDF of the advenute, and we have a Foudnry VTT module available on our Patreon. Orders typically ship the next business day. Sorry in advance for the expensive overseas pricing - we are working on getting better pricing figured out but it is what it is!

"The damned and blasphemous city of C’thagn is risen from the depths of the ocean. Regurgitated by the frothing waves, long since tired of its noisome aura.

This contemptible citadel was not constructed by human hands, as is evident in its abhorrent architecture,

Yet it is humans now who walk down its fetid streets."

This adventure is printed on an 8 panel, thick paper, A2 sized map (double the size of the Dark Caribbean map included with Pirate Borg). The map is on the front and all the adventure panels are on the back. The print release is coming later this year.

Content to Use with Pirate BORG

Now that many of you have your books, there are a few other creators and projects I want to draw attention to!

Governor's Mansion Map

Governor's Mansion Map

I’ve just finished battle maps for the Governor’s Mansion in The Curse of Skeleton Point, and I’m working on a Masquerade Ball toolkit/adventure zine. If you use a VTT, play with a TV, or print out maps for your table, you can grab the free version and check out the Patron-only variations here.

2nd Printing, New PDFs

  • The new 2nd printing Pirate Borg PDFs and assets files have been sent via BackerKit to all backers and anyone that preordered!
  • The final PDFs are also being distributed via DriveThruRPG later today.
  • The 2nd printing is in production and will be printed soon.
  • We are looking at a Q3 worldwide release, but we don't have a date yet.
  • Limithron LLC now has all the 1st printing copies in our warehouse. If anyone buys a copy from us for the foreseeable future, either online via our preorder store or at a convention, it will be the 1st printing, and will ship with an errata sticker sheet once we have them.
  • Other than retailers that backed via this campaign, all retail copies will be the 2nd printing.
  • The 2nd printing does not have the A3 Dark Caribbean map or the bookmark ribbons.
  • The playing cards are not being reprinted—only the Deck Ghoul card is being printed. If anyone buys the cards from us it will come with a replacement card.
  • Errata sticker sheets and replacement cards are not yet in production.
  • Stickers, cards, and replacement books will ship later this year when we have them, probably 3rd quarter.
  • If you asked for a refund, it will not be processed until the replacement materials ship later this year.

Thank you, thank you, thank you to all the nice and supportive messages we have received from you all. We know this was the right thing to do (despite several very nasty messages and one long YouTube video). If you have offered to buy extra things to support, or pay for your replacement copy, we will be in touch when the time is closer!

The best thing you can do to support us now is PLAY PIRATE BORG! We have an active Discord Channel, plus the Facebook group and Subreddit. If you are running the game, we’d love to hear your tales and see photos.

Pirate Borg 5th Edition Foundry Module

The module is done. We are just waiting on a few backend things before we push this to backers.

Pirate Borg for Roll20

We are in the Alpha phase of testing the character sheet but will need more time before this is ready for backers.

Pirate Borg 5th Edition for Roll20

This is near completion but won’t get pushed out until the core Pirate Borg version is ready, so it will probably be at least a few more weeks.

A New Adventure, Plus Shipping and Reprint Updates
over 1 year ago – Fri, Feb 03, 2023 at 12:34:12 PM

TL;DR

  • The first PIRATE BORG adventure is out on my Patreon, and is printing soon.
  • Shipping Update (UK and EFTA have not yet shipped).
  • Some details on the reprint.

The Sinking of C'Thagn

I made an adventure with JVC Parry. Right now it's available to my Patreon subscribers, and we're printing it with a local printer this month. If you don't do Patreon you can buy it once it's printed. It will also be available digitally.

The adventure will be printed on an 8 panel, thick paper, A2 sized map (double the size of the Dark Caribbean map included with PIRATE BORG). The map is on the front and all the adventure panels are on the back. There will also be a Foundry VTT module.

This pamphlet style adventure is designed to be a springboard for all kinds of adventures in the recently risen Lovecraftian inspired city of C'thagn. Included in the panels are the following tables and sections:

  • 4 factions
  • d66 treasures
  • The Sunken Texts of The Wretched
  • Random location generator
  • d10 Sunken encounters
  • d10 Risen encounters
  • Great Old One generator
  • 12 points of interest
  • The Tartarian Temple location guide (designed in conjunction with the Eldritch Temple battle map pack)

But why are you making more stuff when I don't have my book yet?!?!

I finished the creative part of PIRATE BORG months and months ago, and it's time to start churning out new content for you all to play. I’m sorry you don’t have your books: I want you to have them and I promise they are coming!

UK and EFTA Shipping

UK (and EFTA) orders have still not shipped. Unfortunately, there is nothing I can do but wait and send them inquisitive emails.

Here is the info I got from them this morning:

The pallet of your stock to the UK is still in transit with the courier OnTour.  This should be expected at our warehouse imminently.

The UK backer data has been validated and analysed. Nothing else can happen until your stock is delivered and booked in.. At which point our warehouse team will undertake their own packing configuration tests based on the analysed data...

Until the stock is booked in timescales are difficult to estimate.

USA, EU, and the Rest of the World

All other orders have been dispatched or will be soon (as of this writing 38 EU orders are "in stock but not yet picked"). There is a queue of emails asking about their books and shipping. We are getting to those as soon as we can but please bear with us - things are crazy right now.

The Reprint

  • The reprint will NOT delay any KickStarter rewards or preorders. The reprint is for retail, not for you all.
  • We are not destroying any books.
  • In the future, if you purchase the book from Limithron LLC (at a convention, on our preorder store, or from our online shop when it goes live), you will get the 1st printing not the 2nd. Once we have stickers and the replacement card, they will be included with orders that ship from our warehouse.
  • We have secured a sensitivity reader and she has already completed her read through. We are making the final edits and submitting it to the printer next week.
  • We have not started making stickers and replacement cards yet, as we are focusing on the reprint first.
  • We have not processed any refund requests yet. They will be handled along with the sticker and replacement book requests.
  • If you see the book in retail, it means that retailer was a Kickstarter Backer just like you, and they probably got their order before you because their order was simpler. Fulfillment companies fulfill in order of complexity.
  • Thank you for all the support! Most of you have been VERY, VERY kind about this.
  • If you don't agree with the correction or the reprint, I understand.  I just ask that you trust we are making the decisions we feel are in the best interest of the game, our future, and our growing community's well being.

A Statement from Luke and Limithron LLC
over 1 year ago – Thu, Jan 26, 2023 at 12:04:20 PM

A Statement for Limithron LLC

It has come to my attention that one of the creatures in Pirate Borg is potentially triggering and can be interpreted as racist. Upon receiving and reviewing this news, I 100% agree and I am deeply sorry for any harm this may have caused and am frankly appalled that I didn’t realize it before going to print.

One of the zombies was titled “The Rope Monkey” as a riff on the historical term “Rigging Monkey” used to refer to sailors that climb masts. The art is of a dark skinned zombie with dreadlocks. Even as I type this, I can't believe that I didn't see this as triggering or inappropriate. When I drew that art I was actually trying to be MORE inclusive, but I messed up. I’d drawn a corpulent zombie, I had a female zombie, and I wanted to show that the setting is multicultural, so I edited my drawing of the crouched over male zombie to be someone of African descent. At no point during the creative process did the taboo monkey comparison nor the presence of the term “rope” cross my mind.

In order to take corrective action and address this issue, here is what we are going to do:

  • We are hiring a sensitivity reader to review the entire book.
  • We are changing the name of the zombie to “Deck Ghoul”.
  • We have started working on a 2nd printing. As such, the public release date is now delayed for several months.
  • New PDFs and digital assets will be sent to everyone after sensitivity reading is complete.
  • The Roll20, Foundry VTT, and Alchemy RPG modules will be updated as well.
  • We are printing “Deck Ghoul” text stickers and replacement playing cards. These will be available at conventions, on our website, and will ship with future orders. You can also request one for free here.
  • We will be offering free replacement copies of the 2nd printing of the book to anyone who wants one. We are humbly asking that you pay for shipping, and note that these copies will not ship for many more months. If you are interested, please fill out this form so we can gauge how many to print. Unfortunately, the Limited Edition will not be reprinted.

I’m honestly mortified and very upset that this was not seen and corrected before going to print. I want to affirm that we at Limithron are firmly anti-racist, anti-sexist, anti-bigot, anti-homophobic, anti-transphobic, and do not want anyone to feel like they do not belong at our tables or playing our games. We declare so loudly and proudly on page 1 of the book. You’ll find that throughout Pirate Borg there are people of color in positions of power (like the Naval Mastermind) and it’s an honest oversight that I chose such a terrible name for that zombie and we will continue to work to provide a diverse and safe environment for all players.

If you would like a new book, a refund, or would like to request a free “Deck Ghoul” text replacement sticker and/or playing card, please fill out this form.

Feel free to email [email protected] or comment below with your comments and questions.

Please accept my sincerest apologies.
